Kaiser Idell Table Lamp
The Bauhaus occupies a significant place in the history of 20th century design; bringing together the outstanding talents of both architecture and the arts, its pioneering style still echoes in today’s contemporary landscape. A pillar of classic German aesthetics, Christian Dell was a silversmith and designer whose precise craftsmanship and exquisite choice of materials are still coveted today. Selected by MUSIU, the KAISER Idell lamp is sincere design classic that teeters on the fringe of history and modernity. Referencing the word ‘idea’ and his own name Dell, as well the original manufacturer, Brothers Kaiser & Co, the first lamp was made in 1931 from steel and brass with a patented pivot connection. Shining just as bright today as it did back then, the KAISER Idell is indisputably an artistic artefact of the Bauhaus era.
